§ 38-592. Vehicles to be in safe condition.

  • (a)

    No person shall drive or move on any street any motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer or pole trailer, or any combination thereof, unless the equipment upon any and every such vehicle is in good working order and adjustment as required in this chapter, and such vehicle is in such safe mechanical condition as not to endanger the driver or other occupant or any person upon the street.

    (b)

    Any police officer may at any time, when having reasonable cause to believe that any vehicle is unsafe, or not equipped as required by this chapter, or that its equipment is not in proper adjustment or repair, require the driver of the vehicle to stop and submit the vehicle to inspection and test as may be appropriate and reasonable.
