§ 38-376. Stopping, standing or parking prohibited in specified places.

  • (a)

    No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or traffic-control device, in any of the following places:

    (1)

    On a sidewalk;

    (2)

    In front of a public or private driveway;

    (3)

    Within an intersection;

    (4)

    Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant;

    (5)

    On a crosswalk;

    (6)

    Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection;

    (7)

    Within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon, stop sign, or traffic-control signal located at the side of a street;

    (8)

    Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within 30 feet of points on the curb immediately opposite the end of a safety zone, unless the traffic authority indicates a different length by signs or markings;

    (9)

    Within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station and on the side of a street opposite the entrance to any fire station within 75 feet of the entrance, when properly posted with signs;

    (10)

    Alongside or opposite any excavation or obstruction when stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic;

    (11)

    On the street side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb of a street;

    (12)

    Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a street or within a street tunnel;

    (13)

    At any place where official signs prohibit stopping;

    (14)

    Between a curb and sidewalk or between a curb or lateral line of a roadway, and the adjacent property line;

    (15)

    So as to obstruct any traffic-control device from view;

    (16)

    On any island or walk printed as part of a public parking area;

    (17)

    Within three feet of a public or private curbcut or driveway;

    (18)

    Adjacent to any curb painted yellow or red in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

    (19)

    Park in a zone designated by the marking of the curb with red or yellow paint or signage as a fire zone.

    (b)

    No person shall move a vehicle not lawfully under his control into any such prohibited area or away from a curb such distance as is unlawful.

    (c)

    The provisions of subsection (a) and (b) of this section may be modified by the traffic engineer or his designated representative upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation study by the use of appropriate markings or signs.
